I noticed this when I was talking to a friend on MSN the other day. I asked the friend
"have you mandied?"
mandied = mandi + -ed
mandi = shower
I meant to say
"have you showered?"
Another thing is how a friend used the noun MSN (messenger) as a verb.
He said, "I din't realize you msned me"
He used the noun MSN with the past particle -ed and used it as a verb.

ReplyDeleteHave you Googled it?
You should Youtube it.
LOL! =D
I think in some dictionaries "Google" has become a standard verb. According to Wikipedia.com, it was officially added to Oxford English Dictionary on June 15, 2006 and to Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary in July 2006.
ReplyDeleteI guess if a word is used frequently enough, it will eventually be added to dictionaries.
It reflects how basically almost anything can become a verb /be used as a verb in English, including msn, google or ambuyat. Just kidding - "have you ambuyatted" might not yet have caught on. But nearly any noun can be used as a verb, if you try hard enough. I guess mandi is different, since it was a verb already when it was borrowed into (spoken) English.
